Welcome New Parents

WELCOME NEW PARENTS

Pack 406 would like to welcome you and your family to Cub Scouting. We are providing this information packet in order to assist you in making your family's scouting experience more meaningful. The Pack is run locally by parent volunteers who have been trained to provide leadership, programs and materials to help your scout develop as he progresses through the ranks.

Scouts move through ranks that may begin with Tiger Cub (1st grade), progress through Bobcat to Wolf and Bear (2nd and 3rd grade) and advance to Webelos I and II (4th and 5th grade). Each rank has age-appropriate activities designed to develop character and personal skills in an environment that is both fun and safe. We hope that you and your family will participate in this process as your cub scout works to complete his rank's achievements and electives.

You will find that many people are involved in the scouting process including the boys, their families, den leaders, pack committee, chartered organization, district and council scouting representatives, local community or business staff interested in scouting, and more. While many of you are new to scouting, many more have gone before you and are eager to help you on your journey. Please take time to talk with your den leaders, pack leaders, and experienced scouting families if you have questions (see handbook for some initial leadership contacts).

And remember, the pack is made up of volunteers like you. So please consider assisting your den leader at den meetings, driving scouts to an activity, creating a flyer for a pack event, calling an organization to schedule a field trip, or helping in other ways as you feel led. Everyone has talents and tools that they can contribute to help the pack go. Working side by side with others will make your child's scouting experience even more rewarding.

Thank You from the
Cubmaster and Pack Committee
